As Budgets Shrink, Defense Industry Thinks Global

A more global marketplace would help the defense industry better weather shrinking budgets and preserve competition, industry executives argued Wednesday, but it will not be easy to fully accomplish. Appearing at a Center for Strategic and International Studies event Nov. 12, several current and former defense industry executives made the case for federated defense ~ through which the United States and its allies would better integrate their military capabilities. But despite its benefits, they said, plenty of challenges stand in the way of improving international military cooperation.
