In response to a congressional request for help on acquisition reform efforts, industry leaders are calling for a greater focus on how commercial items are procured, along with enhanced industry involvement in the process and workforce development. In March, the House and Senate Armed Services committees reached out to industry to help provide input on how the Pentagon and Congress could improve the acquisition process, with an eye on steps that could be taken to reduce the cost of major defense acquisition programs, accelerate delivery of these capabilities to soldiers and improve contracting.
