The Navy's small surface combatant task force, meant to develop proposals for a new lethal small surface combatant as an alternative to the Littoral Combat Ship, has not yet set an affordability target to work with, according to a top Navy official. "We're being very careful about setting affordability caps, targets, however you want to describe it, on our major programs today," the Navy's top acquisition executive Sean Stackley told reporters after a House Armed Services seapower and projection forces subcommittee hearing last month. "This is going to fall under the same guidelines."
