摘要

The Pentagon still has problems enforcing a requirement for contractors in Afghanistan to report basic information about their operations through a Defense Department database, making it hard for U.S. Central Command officials to know how many private workers are in the country supporting the U.S. military at any given time, a new memo shows. "Non-compliance is a serious issue as the CENTCOM commander needs to maintain situational awareness of all contracts and contractor personnel in Afghanistan, particularly while supporting drawdown efforts," Richard Ginman, the director for defense procurement and acquisition policy, wrote in a Feb. 3 memo. Recipients of the missive included U.S. Special Operations and Transportation commands, the military services and defense agency directors.
