DARPA Eyes Program To Help Provide GPS-Quality Navigation

The Pentagon's advanced research arm intends to hold a proposers' day June 1 for a program designed to help provide GPS-quality navigation in a world where traditional means of accessing positioning, navigation and timing could be thwarted by adversaries. In an April 2 notice on the Federal Business Opportunities website, the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency writes that it intends to hold the proposers' day in its conference center in Arlington, VA, for the Precise Robust Inertial Guidance for Munitions (PRIGM): Advanced Inertial Micro Sensors (AIMS) program. This program is designed to help in a world where GPS may be harder to come by due to the "increased prevalence of intentional jamming, spoofing and other GPS-denial threats."
