DARPA seeks to develop, test reusable hypersonic propulsion system

The Pentagon's advanced research arm seeks proposals by month's end for a program that will develop and test a reusable propulsion system for hypersonic aircraft systems that can help with intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance efforts in hard-to-reach environments. In an Aug. 12 broad agency announcement posted on Federal Business Opportunities, the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency calls for proposals for the Advanced Full Range Engine, or AFRE, program.
