摘要

Navy officials are discussing how the service can use data to cut down on the amount of unobligated funds it sends back to the treasury each year, Tom Sasala, the Navy's chief data officer, said Wednesday.Sasala, speaking at a C4ISRNET event, said the Navy returns a "fair amount" of unobligated money every year."We're not fully tracking all of the money that needs to be expended," he said. The Army pursued a similar effort to closely watch unobligated funds, and was able to cut the amount of money the service returned to the treasury each year by 10%, Sasala said. That is close to $300 million for the Army, he said.
