Alaska Governor Sarah Palin signed an order last week directing two state agencies to assist private groups working on an in-state liquefied natural gas project.rnUnder the order, the departments of revenue and natural resources can lend assistance in permit coordination, fiscal and economic analysis and facilitation of meetings with federal agencies.rnMost attention in Alaska is on major all-land pipeline projects being pursued by North Slope producers BP and Cono-coPhillips and a competing proposal by TransCanada. But the Alaska Gasline Port Authority has teamed up with Japan's Mitsubishi to continue exploring an LNG project based in Valdez, in southern Alaska, that could ship the gas to the North American West Coast or Asian markets.
