Over objections, FERC OKs New York PSC transmission cost allocation proposal

Rejecting criticisms from New York state legislators and transmission owners, FERC earlier in the month signed off on a cost allocation methodology proposed by the New York Public Service Commission for transmission projects aimed at alleviating congestion in parts of the state. The PSC in March pitched revisions (ER17-1310) to the New York Independent System Operator tariff that laid out a cost allocation method for public policy transmission projects intended to relieve persistent transmission congestion across the state’s Central East and Upstate New York/Southeast New York electrical interfaces.
