Irrefutably, the reinforced concrete structures have many advantages, but there are still a number of shortcomings, viz. detrimental large cracks, brittle behaviour and low flexural capacity which need to be resolved. A lot of experimental research is done on strengthening of reinforced concrete members using various materials. Recently, strain hardening cementitious composites (SHCC) with its pseudo-plastic behaviour have gained popularity in the concrete construction. However, numerical modelling of reinforced concrete slabs strengthened with SHCC layers is very rare. In this research article, parametric study on two-layered strain hardening cementitious composite and reinforced concrete (RC) slabs has been presented with the usage of finite element analysis-based ATENA 3D software. Specifically, in order to enhance the flexural capacity and control cracks, a SHCC layer having thickness of 20 mm, 40 mm, 60 mm and 80 mm is placed at soffit of the RC slabs. Results obtained from ATENA are in acquiescent with experimental data procured from the published literature. Results procured from ATENA software found that the flexural capacity of the slabs has been enhanced by 17.9-50.7% when SHCC layer having thickness 20-80 mm has been placed in soffit of the RC slabs. Similarly, results procured from ATENA show that moment-carrying capacity enhanced by 15.65-51.09% when SHCC layer having thickness 20-80 mm has been placed in soffit of the RC slabs.
