New Endoscopic Technology to Detect Cancer

In Singapore, cancers of the oral cavity represent approximately 6% of all malignancies in men whereas cancer of the stomach rank as the fourth and sixth most common cancers diagnosed in men and women respectively. People with cancers of the oral cavity and the upper gastrointestinal (GI) tract have a low recovery rate and usually achieve a cure only if the disease has remained localised. Early diagnosis is of paramount importance to manage pre-cancerous and malignant lesions of the mouth and upper GI tract successfully.
