Support for older people and their carers

The UK population is ageing. As a GP, it is important to attend to the full range of physical, psychological and social needs of elderly patients and their carers. To do this, it is important to have a well-coordinated multidisciplinary team and know, at least in outline, about social benefits and services available to patients and carers. This article is intended as a broad guide to the types of support available for elderly patients in the UK.
