In this article the use of thermal imaging camera for assessment of thermal effects of Nd:YAG laser irradiation on the root canal wall dentin is described. The aim of this in vitro study was to determine safe conditions of Nd:YAG laser work, i.e. such parameters which do not increase the temperature above levels which can be the cause of undesirable changes in teeth and surrounding tissues. For this study a special test-bed was worked out by authors, which let to simulate conditions similar to those occurring in oral cavity. (C) 2004 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
