The traditional approach to software development has been to let developers write code and leave it to QA to do the testing necessary to ensure that bugs are found and that reliability, performance and security goals are met before an application is deployed to production. As the demand to deliver new application functionality is driving software development cycles from months to weeks and in some cases days, this traditional approach to software testing is being forced to change.
