In the early '90s I landed a job with "start-a- Cee," a hugely successful VAR on the East Coast. Our growth was enormous. By 2000, we had grown from 100 employees to more than 1,600 — and nearly $1 billion in sales. We carried tens of thousands of SKUs, and employed 1,000-plus sales pros in my office alone. Along the way, we became experts in the service arena too, giving us an edge on the competition.
