One of my hobbies is collecting U.S. postage stamps, an activity I began as a kid. In keeping up with this hobby, I spend a fair amount of time on eBay as both a buyer and a seller. I'm not alone in this respect as eBay is one of the dot-com industry's success stories, having survived and thrived through the last several years of tech industry turmoil. The eBay home page has all sorts of information for its users, including categories of goods, a search engine, links to services and advice, a site map, and other features that are typical of e-commerce Web sites. Also on the home page, down at the bottom, is a statement that says, "Use of this Web site constitutes acceptance of the eBay user agreement and privacy policy." It's increasingly common for e-commerce and commercial database sites to utilize such agreements, also referred to as Terms of Use, Terms and Conditions, and Legal Information. The expectation is that using your browser to go to any part of the site beyond that front page constitutes legal acceptance of those terms.
