A survey of 1,400 companies by IT staffing firm Robert Half Technology revealed that more than half of those surveyed prohibit the use of social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter while at work. The survey, which asked CIOs to categorize their company's social networking policy by selecting one of several answers, showed that 54% of those surveyed completely prohibited the use of such sites; 16% of respondents indicated that limited personal use was permitted, while only 10% stated that employees are allowed to use the sites as they wish.
