Take the Lead

Higher education is experiencing many changes. Massive open online courses (MOOCs), the rise of for-profit schools, and increased demands for assessment and accountability are just a few. Librarians are working our way through these changes, as well as through developments in our own industry. How can we lead our libraries, our institutions, and our profession to success? How can we bring our practical needs together with the academic study of leadership? There is a rich literature on leadership in academia; how can we bring it to bear in the library setting? Many of our colleagues have worked on this. Leadership in Academic Libraries Today: Connecting Theory to Practice gathers a variety of articles on this issue, providing a number of current views on academic library leadership.
