You see these things all the time, but you probably do not know their formal names: choropleth map, Sankey diagram, Voronoi diagram, and coxcomb chart. They are all types of data visualizations. According to info-graphics chronicler Gareth Cook, this is the golden age of visual storytelling, a period defined by enormous amounts of data, a hunger for clear and concise explanations of it, and lots of marvelous infographics software.Two stellar representatives of the current visual storytelling era are Visual Capitalist and HowMuch.net. As their names suggest, they both deal with the topic of money in all of its various forms, from the world's GDPs to the precarious supply chain for cobalt. Their names are just a bit misleading, however, because their work delves into the intersections of money and politics, technology, social issues, and-money being what it is-a little bit of everything else.
