This article discusses a learning society in the Nordic context, and focuses on Finland. From a comparative perspective, the socio-political dimension of a learning society is essential in the Nordic context. Equity, participation and the welfare state have been recognized as the major attributes of the Nordic model. However, the economic and cultural dimensions and especially the relationship between these three dimensions are of great interest
