Methodologies are absolutely invaluable to a large or growing practice. By documenting the methodologies you use, you are then able to teach them to younger and inexperienced personnel. Once your methodologies are developed, they will provide an excellent resource for building a computer forensics training course. If your computer forensics professional has not documented these methodologies, your methodologies consist only of what is between that person's ears. You run the risk of losing these methodologies should the person leave, or worse yet, have something terribly wrong happen to them. Documenting your methodologies can lead to some unwanted review of your procedures, but such reviews can lead to continual tweaking and improvement. Your methodologies will need to be modified to change with technology and new techniques. With methodologies, you can now press on with confidence that the direction you are going is the right direction.
