Defining a Technical Architecture for Health Care security

Any approach to assur- ing the privacy, confi- dentiality, and integrity of electronic medical records mustapply to all of the health care organization's partici- pants and networks. In this article, the author presents an architec- ture that, through examination of the clin- ical data processes, networking infrastruc- ture, threats to those processes, and control techniques for mitigat- ing risks, offers the health care industry a means of identifying areas where controls need to be imple- mented.
