Institutions can no longer ignore IL competency irrespective of discipline. Information literacy is becoming an important component of learning. As more and more information is added to the internet it is becoming important for students to access, filter, synthesize and use information appropriately. This will avoid information overload and make them much more productive in the learning environment.
