LC DISPLAY DOUBLES DOWN ON OLED

IN THE FACE OF INCREASED COMPETITION IN THE LCD PANEL market from Chinese manufacturers, LG Display is seeking to strengthen its monopoly position in OLED TV displays by investing a further US$2.6 billion (3 trillion South Korean won [KRW]) in the Generation 10.5 (Gen 10.5) plant in development in Paju, South Korea. The new round of investment, announced during the company's second-quarter earnings call, builds on the $3.8 billion the company already invested in the Paju plant dating back to 2015.
