A brief review of recent significant safety and labor standards events. This is not meant to be a comprehensive listing. 1. April 24, 2014, marked the one-year anniversary of the Rana Plaza building collapse in Bangladesh. More than 1,000 workers died, most of whom were garment workers, and several thousand more were injured. 2. In November 2012, nearly six months before the Rana Plaza disaster, more than 100 garment workers were killed when fire swept through the Tazreen Fashion factory in Bangladesh.
