Hard turning gear shafts with DBC50

摘要

Time-consuming grinding operations can be replaced by hard turning in the finish machining of gear shafts. The use of DBC50, a low cBN-content polycrystalline cubic boron nitride tool material developed for this type of application, enables considerable time savings to be made, while cutting without coolant offers further cost benefits. The dimensional stability and quality of surface finish of the workpieces machined with this material are comparable to those achieved by grinding.
