摘要

Al_2O_3-ZrO_2 composites prepared from calcined technical alumina and monoclinic zirconia showed typical microstructural evolution in repeated ther- mal-shock cycling tests. Circular stress contours were seen after the 5th cycle and microfissures appeared after 20 cycles. However, the composites retained 240- 470 kg/cm~2 strength after 20 cycles. Both Zro_2 and Al_2O_3 were hydrolysed on autoclave treatment.
