The Indian Tariff Commission's recommendation for a further three-year Protection to the sericulture industry and the Government's acceptance of it will be greeted by all concerned with the promotion of silk and sericulture. The Government of India has shown persistent interest in developing this nature/fibre/industry and one of the earliest measures was to put sericulture under tariff protection from 1934.
