Union Textiles Minister Visits Central Silk Board

Shri Santosh Kumar Gangwar, Hon'ble Union Minister of State for Textiles (independent charge) visited Central Silk Board, Bengaluru on November 25, 2014. Shri N.S. Bisse Gowda, Chairman, Central Silk Board and Ms. Ishita Roy, Member Secretary, Central Silk Board and other senior officials of the Board welcomed the Minister. The Minister visited the Silkworm Seed Production Centre of NSSO, Central Silk Technological Research Institute, Product Design, Development and Diversification Cell at the Secretariat of Central Silk Board. Smt. Ishita Roy, Member Secretary, CSB briefed the Minister about various R&D efforts of Central Silk Board and its units in both pre and post-cocoon areas. The Minister while addressing the officials of Central Silk Board appreciated the contributions made by CSB for the development of sericulture and silk industry of the country and congratulated the scientists and technocrats for their concerted efforts to develop new technologies. He stressed on the importance of exploiting the full potentials of the silk industry in ensuring better employment, income generation and socio-economic development of the stakeholders. The Minister called upon for collective efforts to further strengthen the Indian silk industry.
