India's First Rail & Transport University: A New Beginning

Indian Railways (IR), the preferred means of transport in the land having continental proportions inhabited by 1.26 billion, has been pivotal in scripting the development story of the nation. Hailed as the growth engine, the hallmark of this robust and vibrant organization has been its remarkable capacity to respond to the changing needs and aspirations of the times and the people by constantly adapting and reinventing itself. Setting up India's first multi-disciplinary university focused on the transportation sector, the National Rail & Transportation Institute (NRTI) in 2018, poised to play a vital role, is a shining example of this continued endeavour. NRTI was inaugurated on September 5, 2018, when it opened its doors to the first batch of 103 students from 20 States of India, in two fully-residential undergraduate courses.
