Quality Assurance Directorate (QA/S&T) Steps Towards Excellence

Quality Assurance (S&T) Directorate was formed in the year 2002 with the objective of separating research and design activities from other activities like inspection of S&T materials and multi sourcing of vendors for S&T items. The main functions of QA(S&T) Directorate are : 1. Inspection of signaling and telecommunication items for various Zonal Railways as well as other PSUs. 2. Promoting new vendors in the manufacturing of S&T items so that adequate quantities at competitive prices are available to Indian Railways. 3. Fresh approval of new vendors 4. Periodical quality audit of approved vendors to ensure that the manufacturing is as per stipulated requirements. 5. Publishing vendor directory including monthly amendments.
