Temperature dependence of elastic constants and thermal expansion coefficient of KCl crystal

摘要

Second order elastic constants and volume thermal expansion coefficient are calculated as functions of temperature in the range 50-1100 K for KCl crystal using Tallon's model. The results are compared with available experimental data as well as with recent values calculated by Kim and Kown. All the second order elastic constants, except C_(12), are found to decrease with increasing temperature. Our results for C_(12) indicating increasing trend with temperature deviate significantly from the results reported by Kim and Know. We have discussed this discrepancy in the light of available experimental data and previous studies reported in the literature.
