Present power scenario of seven north-eastern states of India

North eastern region comprises 7 states of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland and Tripura. The various power sector agencies in the north eastern region comprises state sector in the form of state electricity board or power departments of the respective state governments and central sector for power agencies like North Eastern Electric Power Corporation Ltd. (NEEPCO), National Hydroelectricity Power Corporation (NHPC) and Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (PGCIL). Out of 7 states of the region only 2 states namely Assam and Meghalaya have state electricity boards and rest 5 states have power departments directly under respective state government.
