Both IGCC and A-USC are indispensable for higher efficient coal-fired power generation technology in the future. From the plant operation characteristics, A-USC should be suitable for changing the output of plant, however IGCC should be operated at the rated load, because IGCC is highly integrated plant with coal gasifier, gas turbine, heat recovery steam generator, steam turbine and so on. As for the type of coal, low-ash-fusion-temperature coal is suitable for IGCC and high-ash fusion-temperature coal is suitable for pulverized coal-fired plant. So, from the diversification of the type of coalrnin coal-fired power plant, both A-USC and IGCC are indispensable technology.
