Mechanical behaviour of chemically texturized jute fabric

摘要

On texturization with 18% (w/w) NaOH solution, jute fabric underwent about 50% area shrinkage, causing an increase in thickness, weight per unit area, number of warp/weft per unit length and yarn crimp. The texturized jute fabric showed a reduction in bending rigidity, tenacity and initial modulus and substantial increase in extension at break. The structural changes brought out on texturization enabled the fabric to exhibit lower stress relaxation, compared to that of untreated fabric, in small deformation region but the effect was found to be reversed in large deformation region. After repeated deformation in small extension region, the texturized jute fabric showed an improvement in its breaking load in contrast to lowering of breaking load of untreated fabric after repeated deformation.
