Anisotropic behaviour of needle-punched parallel-laid jute nonwoven

摘要

An attempt has been made to study the effect of basis weight and needling density on strength, initial modulus and bending behaviour of needle-punched jute nonwoven made from parallel-laid jute web. Changes in anisotropy (strength and initial modulus) of fabric have also been studied. It is observed that the values of above-mentioned properties along any direction of fabric are dependent on the degree of fibre inclination in that particular direction. Fabrics made from card sliver web show considerably lower anisotropy than those made from drawing sliver web.
