Revamping of a pipe rack structure with minimum shut-down time

In petroleum refining plants, one of the elements which undergoes revamping most often is the pipe rack. The resultant additional load on the pipe rack often necessitates strengthening. In this paper, the effect of different strengthening methods on various aspects of pipe rack structure is analysed with an emphasis on minimising shutdown time.
