The Indian Concrete Institute is organising a national seminar on 'Green buildings and highways for sustainability and better environment' along with their Concrete Day Celebrations - 2009 during October 10-11,2009 at The Institution of Engineers (India) Building, Allahabad.rnThe economy of world is pivoting around the source of energy which is primarily in the form of crude oil and coal resources. These sources are limited and getting depleted. The remaining stock of fossil fuel is estimated to last only for a few years. On the other hand, the demand for energy is increasing.. Hence alternative sources of energy are being developed. These include nuclear and renewable energy. Although nuclear energy is a rnpracticable option; fuel grade uranium is scarce. Therefore, renewable energy sources such as solar energy, wind energy and ocean energy must be explored even more. Further, emphasis should be laid on the conservation of energy.
