The Indian Concrete Institute, Nagpur Centre, is organising a national seminar on 'Fibres in concrete' titled FIBCON 2011, during June 25 - 26, 2011 at Nagpur, Maharashtra. The seminar is about improvement in concrete properties and performance by addition of fibres. Fibre concrete can be for improved control over cracking due to plastic shrinkage, drying shrinkage, temperature etc. Fibres provide discontinuous three-dimensional reinforcement that transfers stresses at micro-crack level. These provide tensile, capacity and crack control to the concrete section prior to the establishment of visible macro cracks, thereby promoting ductility and toughness.
