Surface coating for sustainable protection and rehabilitation of concrete structures

Of all the methods of protecting and preserving the existing stock of structures into serviceable and usable elements, the use of surface coatings has the unique advantage that they can be applied to protect existing structures, new construction or as part of a programme of refurbishment of damaged and deteriorating structures. Surface or barrier coatings have also a long history of application to concrete to protect it and the embedded steel from various aggressive agents and external environments.
