摘要

As cities develop and grow in size and population, the trend to build taller buildings increases. In the case of Mumbai and many other Indian cities, it is the lack of space that encourages such constructions. In the process, many structural innovations take place and construction records are created. Tall buildings have a greater potential to create sustainable built environment vis-a-vis low-rise buildings, mainly because tall buildings use land area more efficiently. In tall structures, the principal requirement is the resistance of high magnitudes of wind and seismic forces.
