摘要

Pushover analysis (PA) is not yet introduced in the Indian Standard code. However, procedures specified by Federal Emergency Management (FEMA) / Applied Technological Council (ATC) can be adapted for establishing non-linear seismic parameters. The fundamental need is to establish demand Response Spectra (RS) for nonlinear analysis for seismic zones in India, similar to the linear ones specified in the IS earthquake code. In some of the recent articles published in India on PA, approach to construct such RS is discussed. But, since there is no similarity in the approach suggested in these articles, the issue still remains unresolved. Purpose of this article is to emphasise the need for the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) to publish a code on nonlinear pushover analysis; or as a first step, to publish demand Response spectra for seismic zones in India for nonlinear analysis.
