On behalf of the Society may I wish you all, members, sponsors, staff & officers, a happy, prosperous, successful and safe 1999 as we move towards the new millennium. Your Society has begun the year with considerable momentum following the very active and successful 1998, which included the flagship events such as Special Effects 98 and Digital Widescreen Television seminars. I would like to highlight some of our 1999 aims as we look to the future: To launch a new Film Technology Committee, under the chairmanship of John Graham, providing a broader base for representation of film activities than a Laboratory Committee alone.
