In the case of newspaper presses, the category below high-end has been completely overhauled: As of recently, Goss, KBA and manroland have been offering the successor models to presses such Cobra and Geoman. These presses are in line with the latest technological state of the art, but feature a simpler and modular design. They offer automatic plate change, a feature that has now become a standard feature of investments in new equipment, especially in Central Europe. They have the highly valued benefit of being considerably lower cost. In my opinion, this new press categoty has good market prospects in times of tight budgets, above all in countries such as Germany where, due to short print runs, top speed is less relevant.
