To conserve panel real estate, avionics and aircraft manufacturers make extensive use of concentric controls. The major drawback to concentric controls is that settings and selections can be unintentionally changed. G1000 pilots often change the course setting on a G1000 PFD while intending to reset the barometric pressure, sometimes without noticing. The airplane heads to parts unknown as the controller asks you to "confirm your heading." You ask yourself for the millionth time, "Why is it doing that?"This quiz is intended to help you avoid the concentric woes. Answers are on page 23.
