We are happy to publish this special section on Foundations of Computer Science. This is the sixth section on this title. The main goal of this special section is to review and promote recent progress in the field of foundation of computer science.rnThis special section includes an invited paper by Professor Toshimitsu Masuzawa at Osaka University, 15 regular papers, and one letter. Topics of the selected papers include approximation algorithm, automata theory, computational learning theory, computational complexity, distributed computing, graph theory, information security, optimizing algorithm, quantum computing, and term rewriting system. These papers were selected among 23 submissions through careful review.
