摘要

In this report, the reflection coefficient of a flanged rectangular waveguide is rigorously formulated by using the method of the Kobayashi potential (KP) and we numerically study the convergence of the solution. The field in the half-space is expanded in terms of the Weber-Shcafheitlin discontinuous integrals to incorporate the proper edge condition into the field. By using the continuity of the tangential electric and magnetic aperture fields, the problem is reduced to the matrix equation for the expansion coefficients. The matrix elements are given by double infinite integrals and series of Bessel functions, which are calculated efficiently by applying the asymptotic approximation of the Bessel function. Finally, by using the rigorous expressions, the numerical results of the reflection coefficient are presented to demonstrate the accuracy and convergence of the solution.
