Noise Characteristics of the Semiconductor Switch in Short Circuit on DC Power Supply System

In resent years, DC Power Supply System was used for a Demonstrative Project on Power Supply in Telecommunications Facilities in data center[1]. There are many merit of using DC Power Supply such as highly efficient etc. Telecommunications Facilities in data center is requested for high-quality, therefore DC Power Supply System is requested for high-quality too. In high-quality DC power systems, the exiting DC protection devices, such as the fuse and the Molded Case Circuit Breaker MCCB).But they cannot turn off quickly and stable circuit breaking. Therefore we developed a semiconductor switch that uses a Metal Oxide Semiconductor-Field Effect Transistor (MOS-FET) as a new DC protection device. We present the characteristics for breaking a DC circuit in short circuit when a semiconductor switch is used as protection device on Power supply system and the solutions for short circuit breaking.
