Performance Evaluation of Congestion Control Schemes of Compound TCP+ in Wireless LANs

Recently, Compound TCP has come to be regarded as the most promising transport layer protocol for high-speed and long-distance networks. In our previous work, we demonstrated that Compound TCP degrades the throughput fairness in wireless LANs because of its greedy loss-based congestion control, and we proposed Compound TCP+ in order to solve this unfairness issue. However, in our previous work, we did not examine the congestion control scheme of Compound TCP+. In this paper, we therefore evaluate three congestion control schemes when a network is consider to be in a state in which a packet loss is imminent:(1)multiplicative decrease in the loss window size, (2)linear decrease in the loss window size, and (3) no change in the loss window size. Through our simulations, we show that the linear decrease in the loss window size is the best approach.
