摘要

An amplifier gain of more than 30dB at 1.47μm by using the up-conversion process between the transition levels of Tm~3+ ions was reported [1][2]. The same technique was utilized for a fiber laser having an output power of 1w, with the specific aim of applying it to the pump sources of an Er~3+-doped fiber amplifier [3]. However, amplification of optical communication signals with this technique has not yet been successfully carried out.
